The capital, Manila, is the most densely populated city on the planet, while the archipelago is third on the list of countries with the most annual emigrants to the US. Its culture has been shaped by distant nations as much as by immediate neighbors, and in turn the Filipino diaspora has made a tremendous impression on the world.

Westerners regularly come into contact with Filipino culture, but the Philippines remains a hazy spot on our mental maps. We give harsh descriptions of “balut” and hold Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao in awe, but lack a deeper understanding of a complex country and culture.

Frank Chapter 45 will focus on the unique, seemingly disparate pieces that make up the modern-day Philippines, as well as the larger Filipino community, from New York to Los Angeles to the UAE. Features include contributions from DJ Neil Armstrong, skater Willy Santos, martial artist Dan Inosanto, and comic-book artist Leinil Francis Yu, as well as an illustrated collection of Filipino myths, a photoessay on the ubiquitous jeepney, and (of course) a closer look at boxer Manny Pacquiao’s impact on his country and beyond.

When I first spotted this shoe on the web in 2010 and heard it was dropping at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week I was almost certain that I would never get my hands on them, especially since they only released 150 pairs worldwide and are were only given to a few boutiques around the globe. So when I stepped foot into Case Study Space on La Brea earlier this year and saw them in person, in California, the guys were shocked to find how much info and interest I had in the item. Of course I bought them and then went home that same night on a mission to showcase and expose the new Flagship to the right people over at K1X from Berlin. After a long exchange of talks and believes in what we represent (quality, exclusive selection, ect...) we are happy to announce that we are now the 5th boutique world wide to carry to K1X x Patrick Mohr DCAC Collab sneaker. Below is more info on the release along with some print media for our stocklist.

""Street-fashion designer Patrick Mohr has exclusively designed and reinterpreted the “DCAC” sneaker silhouette for basketball brand K1X. The shoe underwent an inaugural introduction at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin, January 2010 where it was part of Mohr's much anticipated Fashionshow."

The K1X DCAC Patrick Mohr Edition is all black and consists fully of leather – even the laces. Graphic shapes are Patrick Mohr’s trademark. Therefore the shoes’ exteriors are marked with an imprint in the form of multiple triangles. A distinct characteristic of the sneaker is the wooden triangle which is located on the shoes’ tongue and also doubles as an accessory that can be worn as an amulet. The individuality of the shoe is completed by an innovative leather strap which is attached to the upper side of the rear part of the shoe. To be honest, the words and messages that this man puts into his lyrics goes in direct conflict with the typical everyday message sayers of music these days. Being different and sending out the message of your own perspective is something that the world is not seeing alot of these days in the mainstream scene. Radio is in need of a wider playlist which is obviously there, its just the ratings they commit to keeping us not enjoying this heavy rotation, ok.
