Eligh "On Sacred Ground" & Scarub "Afro Classics" Release / In-store Today!
On March 10th, 2009 -- two new releases from Legendary Music will be hitting the store shelves. From the folk music and hip hop collaboration between mother and son, Eligh & Jo Wilkinson's On Sacred Ground: Mother and Son -- to Scarub and Very's latest Afro Classics release The Classic EP of six hard-hitting progressive hip hop cuts.
Living distinctly parallel lives in American-born art forms of Folk Music and Hip Hop, respectively, Mother & Son: Jo Wilkinson and Eligh (of the California collective Living Legends) have crafted a truly groundbreaking collaborative musical experience. On Sacred Ground, is a culmination of years of toying with the idea of making an album together, a time that arrived when both Eligh and Jo came to the simultaneous realization, surprisingly without recent conversation. In addition to his signature rapidfire lyrical delivery as a Legends fan favorite, Eligh is an accomplished producer and sat at the helm for this project. This socially conscious family has been recognized by everyone from Ry Cooder to Pete Seeger and Sage Francis to MURS. In addition to the recognition of such luminaries, Jo recalls being recognized at Legends shows (also having appeared on many LL recordings as guest vocalist) with fans thanking her for “giving birth to the poet man”. On Sacred Ground includes guests: The Grouch, Slug (of Atmosphere), Jiro Yamaguchi (of Ozomatli), Pigeon John, among others.

Afro Classics (AC's or Classics) is a rap duo consisting of Scarub from the west coast rap group Living Legends and Very of Us Pros. Los Angeles based, they have been working together since 1999. In 2001 they released their first group album self entitled Afro Classics, which was followed by two Japan tours, and numerous performances up and down the west coast of The United States. Now back with a new perspective on music, Afro Classics have brought forth The Classic EP. This beat driven, well versed, EP consists of six (6) progressive, hard-hitting cuts. Their songs cover a range of topics such as relationships, succession in life, and perseverance. It has been a long time coming since their last release, and now in 2009 Afro Classics present The Classic EP.
